What is a merchant account?
A merchant account is an account at a financial institution that always allows you to accept credit cards and debit card payments from customers through a credit card terminal.
Can I use someone else's merchant account to do my transactions?
No, this practice is known as "credit card laundering" or "factoring". It is against the Visa and MasterCard agreement. Using someone else's merchant account to process your credit card transactions can lead to heavy fines and perhaps more. In addition, you will also put the merchant's credit card processing account in jeopardy.
What is a discount rate?
Discount rates are basically a percentage that is taken from the charge that is being processed. For example, if you have an order of $100 and your discount rate is 1.85% the discount rate being deducted would be $1.85.
How long does it usually take for the processed funds to be placed into my checking account?
The typical time frame for funds to be deposited in to your bank account is 24 to 48hrs.
What types of credit card terminals are available?
There are many different types raging from telephone enabled, IP enabled, PC software integrated and wireless terminals. It all depends on your business needs.
I already have a terminal; will I be able to use my existing terminal?
Upon approval, one of our technical support specialists will contact you to reprogram your existing terminal so you can start processing immediately.
If I have no credit or bad credit can I still be approved for a merchant account?
Yes. Secure Card Services maintains some of the industries highest approval ratings. Our application is free and very simple to fill out.
Do I need to open a new bank account for my merchant account?
No. Our merchant service enables you to keep your existing checking account and bank.
Once I get this processed started how long does it take before I can actually start accepting credit cards?
Our approval process usually takes 1-2 business days. Your equipment will be programmed and shipped from our home office, and you will be ready to accept credit cards upon its arrival.
What kind of training is required for using a credit card terminal?
Once you receive your terminal (already programmed) a representative from Secure Card Services will contact you and train you on your new terminal. We also have a customer service department which is ready to assist you 24hrs a day 7 days a week.
Is there a processing Fee?
Usually all companies charge a fee between $199 to $300, however we are currently running a promotion which waives all processing fees plus free terminal placement. Our promotion ends 02/29/2008.
